On the 30th November 1970, ZDK came on the air broadcasting on the 1100 spot on the AM dial serving the Eastern Caribbean with 10,000 watts and the link between the studios in St. John’s and the transmitter site was an FM transmitter with 10 watts on 99.0 FM. So for the very first-time listeners in St. John’s Antigua could hear a radio station operating on both the AM & FM dial.

Radio Kwizera is a regional community radio established in 1995 by the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) in collaboration with The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Catholic Diocese of Rulenge - Ngara. It was created as a podium for exchange of information among the refugees and organizations and governments working with them. Radio kwizera launched its first broadcast 12 August 1995 in Chabalisa camp, located in Karagwe district in Kagera region. The camp was by then hosting a number of refugees from Rwanda. Radio Kwizera under Jesuit Refugees Servises (J.R.S) later extended its broadcast to Kibondo and Kasulu districts in Kigoma

The original Radio Veronica became the most popular station in the Netherlands. It broadcast from a former lightship Borkum Riff anchored off the Dutch coastline. The ship was fitted with a horizontal antenna between the fore and aft masts, fed by a one-kilowatt transmitter. Most of its programmes were recorded in a studio on the Zeedijk in Hilversum. At the end of the 1960s the studios and offices moved to bigger premises on the Utrechtseweg in Hilversum.
