Radio Kwizera is a regional community radio established in 1995 by the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) in collaboration with The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Catholic Diocese of Rulenge – Ngara. It was created as a podium for exchange of information among the refugees and organizations and governments working with them. Radio kwizera launched its first broadcast 12 August 1995 in Chabalisa camp, located in Karagwe district in Kagera region. The camp was by then hosting a number of refugees from Rwanda. Radio Kwizera under Jesuit Refugees Servises (J.R.S) later extended its broadcast to Kibondo and Kasulu districts in Kigoma
